Encounter I Had
This past weekend we had ADCC Open at San Diego. With quite a few of my students and friends competing it was quite the day. Leaving for San Diego at 6:00am and returning home from the competition just past midnight. In passing with Geo "Freakazoid" Martinez of 10th Planet Oceanside, I decided to commiserate for a second and greeted, "long day huh." To which he curtly but happily replied," This ain't shit to us."
A good brotherly reminder that the greats handle volume of workload like no others. They condition their minds, and shift the narrative: long days and heavy workloads aren’t burdens, but rather part of the process.
Technique I'm Enjoying
Kouichi Gari by Justin Flores: This one takes a bit of practice and timing, but it's incredibly useful in setups for other sweeps and throws!
